| Bruce Orr with puppet friends |
Bruce Orr, puppetteer, painter, cartoonist, educator. Recipient of 2005 RACC Public Art Grant for SCRAP mural; 2007 RACC Project Grant.
Bruce makes puppet shows out of reused materials for many reasons, but one is because it feels like doing a kid's art project, which is what he is channeling in the work.
Under the name Mudeye Puppet Company, Bruce has taught and performed for 4 years at schools, camps and community centers. He was named “best children's entertainer” in the August issue of Portland Monthly magazine. Bruce has a master's degree in Art Therapy from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia.
This October, with the support of a RACC Project Grant, Bruce will debut The Argyle Clockwise Puppet Show. Argyle is an original all ages performance that will feature colorful cardboard characters, strange landscapes and some surprises. One of the objectives of this project is to create a puppet show that is imaginative, provocative and can be appreciated by adults and children alike.
