Sunshine Dairy Foods launches campaign to support arts and culture – actively
Sunshine Dairy Foods has entered into a unique partnership with Work for Art, a program of the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC), to support arts and culture in the Portland metropolitan region. The Dairy has unveiled a new brand of yogurt and sour cream products carrying a special logo, “Active Cultures, Active Minds: Supporting Local Culture.” One percent of sales from these products will be donated to Work for Art and passed on to more than 75 local arts organizations that bring music, dance, theater, film, visual arts, literary arts, and folk arts into our neighborhoods, schools, and community centers.
“We know the arts play a significant role in the economic vitality of the Northwest,” said Doug Warrick, Sunshine Dairy Foods Sales Manager. “We are excited about this partnership that will help secure a vibrant future for our region. What better way to give to culture than with culture?”
Sunshine Dairy Foods has presented Work for Art with an initial corporate contribution of $5,000 to launch the partnership. The Dairy is also partnering with 4Culture in King County, Washington, to support arts organizations in that region. A special reception is being planned locally for arts organizations and dairy employees to celebrate the partnership on Thursday, April 10th at 4:30 PM; media representatives are welcome to attend. Food and drink will be provided, the yogurt production line will be available for viewing, Portland Taiko will perform, and Arts Commissioner Sam Adams will speak on the importance of business investments in arts and culture.
Employees of Sunshine Dairy Foods will also participate in Work for Art through an employee giving campaign. Employee gifts, as well as the corporate gifts, will be matched dollar for dollar by a public matching challenge fund (provided by the City of Portland, Clackamas County, and Washington County) and then passed on 100% through grants to arts organizations in the region. As with any Work for Art contribution of $60 or more, participating Sunshine Dairy Foods employees will receive an Arts Card that gives them access to 2-for-1 tickets and other discounts at hundreds of arts and culture events throughout the region.
“We are excited by Sunshine Dairy’s creative branding effort to spotlight the vital role that arts and culture play in stimulating innovation and supporting talent in our community,” said Eloise Damrosch, Executive Director of RACC. “Sunshine Dairy and Work for Art are forging a unique public-private partnership that will help our local arts organizations thrive.”
Sunshine Dairy Foods has been the Northwest’s trusted dairy since 1936, providing local cafes, restaurants and businesses with great tasting, rBST-free dairy products – including the new yogurt and sour cream. www.sunshinedairyfoods.com
