Media Advisory

WHAT: Sunshine Dairy Foods has entered into a unique partnership with Work for Art, a program of the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC), to support arts and culture in the Portland metropolitan region. The Dairy will donate 1% of yogurt and sour cream sales to Work for Art, which will then be matched dollar-for-dollar by a special public fund and passed on to arts and culture organizations in the Portland metropolitan area. This partnership will be celebrated by Dairy employees and arts organizations together on April 10 in an event that also kicks off the company’s Work for Art employee giving campaign.

WHEN: Thursday, April 10, 2008

At 4:30 PM – Employees and guest speakers arrive; yogurt production line will be available for viewing and filming; visual artwork from various sources will be on display; food and beverages will be served.

At 4:55 PM – Performance by Portland Taiko, a Japanese drumming ensemble that combines rhythm, movement, energy, and culture into a single art form.

At 5:00 PM – Guest speakers will include Portland City Commissioner Sam Adams; Sunshine Dairy Foods Sales Manager Doug Warrick; and Work for Art Manager Kathryn Jackson.

All speakers will conclude by 5:30, and the event will end by 6:30.

WHERE: Sunshine Dairy Foods, East Plant, 8440 NE Halsey Street, Portland, Oregon, 97220.
Parking is available in the gravel lot behind the building.

** This is an excellent opportunity to capture interesting video and audio that helps illustrate how local businesses support arts and culture and Portland’s creative economy. **

** The speakers are also available for press interviews. Contact Mary Bauer at 503.823.5111. **

Through vision, leadership and service the Regional Arts & Culture Council works to integrate arts and culture in all aspects of community life.
