U.S. Bank Lends Major Support to Arts Partners

U.S. Bank and the U. S. Bancorp Foundation have awarded $25,000 to the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) to support Arts Partners, a collaboration among artists, arts organizations, school districts, governments, and donors to develop a comprehensive solution for providing arts education opportunities for every student in the Portland metropolitan area. RACC is the managing partner of this collaborative effort.

“Promoting the arts in education is a priority for us,” said Malia H. Wasson, president of U.S. Bank in Oregon. “U.S. Bank believes that all children should have the arts as a core part of their curriculum and we are very pleased to support this program.”

The gift from U.S. Bank brings Arts Partners to 56% of its fundraising goal of $846,500 for 2008-09 school year. Other support has been secured from the City of Portland, Multnomah County, Clackamas County, the Oregon Arts Commission, the Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council, the PGE Foundation, and each of the participating school districts (Gresham-Barlow, Hillsboro, North Clackamas and Portland).

The over-arching vision of Arts Partners is to achieve a measurable impact on learning by integrating the community’s arts and cultural resources into the education of every K-8 student in the region’s school districts. For more information visit www.racc.org/artspartners.

U.S. Bancorp, with $247 billion in assets, is the parent company of U.S. Bank, the 6th largest commercial bank in the United States. The company operates 2,542 banking offices and 4,895 ATMs, and provides a comprehensive line of banking, brokerage, insurance, investment, mortgage, trust, and payment services products to consumers, businesses, and institutions. Through vision, leadership and service the Regional Arts & Culture Council works to integrate arts and culture in all aspects of community life.
