RACC Publishes Annual Report for 2007;
Will Present “State of the Arts” Report to Portland City Council
Officials from The Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) have published their 2007 Annual Report and will present it to Portland City Council, along with a summary of the opportunities and challenges facing the arts community, in a “State of the Arts” presentation on Wednesday, January 16 at 10:15 AM at the Jefferson High School Auditorium. RACC is the steward of the City of Portland’s investments in arts and culture.
The annual “State of the Arts” presentation will be introduced by Portland City Commissioner Sam Adams and delivered by RACC Executive Director Eloise Damrosch and RACC Board Chair Carole Morse. This is a time-certain presentation to begin at 10:15 AM (meaning it will not take place before 10:15), and will be carried live on television and streaming internet video by City Net 30. Portland City Council is being held at Jefferson High School this week as part of Mayor Potter’s efforts to give students, parents and educators a first hand lesson in how government really works -- and to showcase the opportunities, successes and challenges facing every school in Portland's six public school districts. This setting provides a perfect backdrop for RACC to update Portland City Council on one of the arts community’s most important initiatives, Arts Partners, which is working on an equitable solution to bring arts education to every elementary school student in the Portland tri-county region.
RACC’s 2007 Annual Report is now available to the public in printed and electronic form. It features, among other things, a list of the individuals and organizations that were awarded grants in 2006-07 and 2007-08, and a Budget Summary for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007. The colorful 30-page publication features numerous photographs from tri-county artists and arts organizations that RACC funded in 2007; highlights RACC’s recent accomplishments in advocacy, fundraising, public art, community services, and arts education; and extends an appreciative nod to the hundreds of community volunteers and contributors who supported RACC throughout the year.
The 2007 Annual Report is available online at www.racc.org/2007report (5MB) or by request from info@racc.org or 503.823.5111.
Through vision, leadership and service the Regional Arts
& Culture Council works to integrate arts and culture in all aspects of
community life.
