Call for Artwork
2007 Portable Works Purchase: Prints, drawings and photographs
The Regional Arts & Culture Council is seeking prints, drawings and photographs to purchase for the Portable Works Collection, by artists living in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Approximately $60,000 is available for purchase and framing.
For more than twenty-five years, the City of Portland and Multnomah County have acquired a collection of two and three-dimensional artworks managed by the Regional Arts & Culture Council. Over 1,000 artworks representing hundreds of regional artists are sited in publicly accessible spaces throughout City and County buildings. The collection strives to reflect a diversity of populations, artistic disciplines and points of view. From time to time, the purchase call is narrowed to specific mediums. This year only prints, drawings and photographs will be considered.
Artwork will be selected on the basis of: artistic merit, appropriateness for a public setting, and relationship to other works within the Portable Works Collection. Guidelines can be downloaded at www.racc.org/publicart/docs/2007PortableWorksPurchase.pdf or by contacting Kristin Calhoun, Public Art Manager at 503-823-5401 or kcalhoun@racc.org.
Materials are due in the Regional Arts & Culture Council’s office by Monday, March 26, 2007 5:00 p.m. (postmarks not acceptable).
E-mail is the preferred method of submission: Portables07@racc.org.
Mail/deliver to: Portable Works Purchase, Regional Arts & Culture Council, 108 NW 9th Avenue, Suite 300, Portland, OR 97209.
Through vision, leadership and service the Regional Arts
& Culture Council works to integrate arts and culture in all aspects of
community life.
