RACC Provides Increased General Support to
35 Arts Organizations
The Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) has awarded $1,279,785 to 35 arts organizations in the Portland Metropolitan area – a 26% increase over last year. These unrestricted funds are provided through RACC’s General Support Grant Program to leading arts organizations in the Portland metropolitan area in recognition of the cultural and economic benefits they provide.
Organizations receiving RACC General Support Grants are located in Clackamas, Multnomah, or Washington County; have budgets of $80,000 or more; and meet other eligibility requirements that are posted online at www.racc.org/grants. Arts organizations apply for General Support every two years, and receive grants of a similar size for each of those two years.
RACC receives funding from The City of Portland, Multnomah County, Metro, Clackamas County and Washington County to provide these grants. In addition, hundreds of individuals throughout the Portland metropolitan region participated in RACC’s Work for Art program, providing payroll deduction contributions and other contributions that are passed on 100% to local arts organizations. This program experienced rapid growth last year, raising over $444,000.

The next cycle of General Support applications will begin in early 2008, and application materials will be posted online at www.racc.org/grants at that time.
RACC also provides professional development grants for artists and arts organizations in two cycles each year; administers special City funds that help arts organizations respond to special opportunities and emergencies; and awards fast track grants to schools that need help paying for arts education activities. Through vision, leadership and service the Regional Arts
& Culture Council works to integrate arts and culture in all aspects of
