Advocacy Handbook

RACC works with the arts community throughout the Portland, Oregon metropolitan region and statewide to advocate for increased support and resources for arts and culture.

Successful advocacy depends on getting your message across to the people who make the decisions - elected officials in city, county, regional, state and national government. An advocate needs to know who can help and how these "helpers" can be most useful. Valuable avenues of communication sometimes are overlooked. Board members and community groups offer important access to elected officials. The role of the advocate is to contact sources, assess capabilities, and put access to the sources and their capabilities to the most profitable use.

RACC has produced The Advocacy Handbook to assist art and culture organizations and their supporters to more effectively advocate for the arts.
